This book was brought to my attention within days after my co-worker and friend's baby died at birth. It was a blessing from heaven to know this even existed. All of us, outside the family felt helpless, heartbroken, and full of questions!If we all felt like this, imagine what they felt like . . . "unimaginable" The author answered some basic questions about their new world, since she lost her daughter a few days after birth. It brought their reality closer to our questions and painted a different picture for me. It is a heartwarming book to read and I recommend it to anyone. My best friend just lost her baby when she was 16 weeks along. This book helped me to know what I should do for her.
Chances are, your friend, your sister, your co-worker, your son, somebody you love, has either already lost a pregnancy or baby, or will do so in the not-too-distant future. You want to find the words and ways to help, and yet, often with the best of intentions, sometimes words will spill out of your mouth that just add to the mother and/or father's pain.
Losing a baby is NOT the same as losing your dog, or your aged grandmother, nor even the same as losing an older child. Babyloss is its own special kind of pain.
This short (24 pages) booklet offers concrete suggestions on what to say, what to do, and how to help. It's a wonderful resource and I highly recommend it.
I found this to be very insightful. Having a niece that lost her baby daughter I was grateful to learn how to relate to my niece and her family without trying to put more stress on them. Thank you for such a wonderful piece to come from so much heart-wrenching grief.
This is a great guide for those would want to support a friend who has lost their much loved baby. Many don't know what to do or say so this has helpful ways to do that.
I think Kristine Brite McCormick did a great job in bringing such a tough subject matter to light. I think anyone who has a friend who's lost a child should read this book. Very informative.
My daughter lost her daughter when she was 7 months pregnant, this explains so much as to her feelings and what is going on with her emotions. This was so helpful for me to help and understand and to be there for her. A totally awesome book that everyone should read.
As a grieving mother, I would say all the advice given in the book was spot on. The second hardest part to lossing my beautiful Samantha was having so many people avoid or pull away from me. I wish I had had more support even if it was to hear my sad story one more time.
After my daughter died the best support and love I received was from a person who didn't even know me at the time of her death. I didn't meet this person in a support group, but she moved into my church boundaries. You never know how much you can help the grieving parents heal until you try!
